Gender Pay Gap
Gender Pay Gap Reporting 2023
Workers on our farm are mainly seasonal workers and largely started since January 2023 in the period reported on. Our figures show a gap suggesting that female workers receive more bonus pay which is due to more female workers working in asparagus picking. There was most opportunity for bonus in asparagus picking from January to April 2023 as it was before our main strawberry season when there was further bonus opportunity for men and women. Female workers also tended to start later in the year meaning that their average hourly pay for the period considered was on average higher as they saw a bigger boost to their average pay from pay rise later in the period. This has led to a higher proportion of men in the lower quartile of hourly pay. Other quartiles more accurately reflect the overall proportion of male and female workers.
